From church, synagogue, and office to seven new homes

Previously home to a church, synagogue, art school, and offices, it is now reimagined as seven new homes.

Brunswick Lofts is a seven-home heritage conversion project in the South Annex neighbourhood of Toronto.

Previously home to a church, synagogue, art school, and offices, it is now reimagined as seven new homes on a site with a unique past as a neighbourhood landmark and community hub.

The project’s form captures the essence of the building’s original architecture and is committed to adaptive reuse.

The double-height Brunswick entrance is a relic of the building’s life as a synagogue. Original circular windows can be found on the building’s east face. Interior layouts and material choices include existing heritage elements and the use of brick.

Developed by Kopas Developments in collaboration with Suulin Architects, the multiunit residence consists of four two-storey garden suites and three two-storey penthouses.
