To meet the growing need for more space, Montgomery Sisam Architects designed the Chatham-Kent Children’s Treatment Centre (CTC-CK) to include a 5,388-m2 (58,000-sf) expanded facility to better serve the local community.
The building’s structure features terrazzo flooring with leaf inlays of native species such as maple leaf and sassafras, while large windows and skylights provide abundant natural light.
It is a one-storey structure clad in brick and terra-cotta block and features a sloped roof.
Additionally, the centre prioritizes sustainability by using environmentally friendly materials and energy-efficient systems, including a geothermal field and high-performance triple-glazed windows.
The transformation will double the size of the current centre and introduce new areas for therapy, recreation, and social connection.
The CTC-CK is a community health centre that provides ongoing support to children with physical, developmental, and communication challenges.
The project is estimated to be completed by 2026.
